Good Bye to Letter of the Week

Holidays are finally over and as we start to get into more of a routine for schooling it's time to say good bye to letter of the week for George.  It's just to simple for him and he needs more of a challenge right now.

Letter of the week will be back sometime this year as Grace is almost ready for it.  To be honest if Grace has her way she'll be doing everything George is, and isn't to happy about having to wait. While she is ready for some of the activities I need a bit more energy before I can devote the time needed to get the activities ready for her each week. 

Now that George is getting closer to 6 I'm aiming to be more focused this year, and try to get into a routine before baby arrives so the transition from schooling with a pregnant mum to a schooling with a new born around is as easy as possible (yeah right, I can dream right)

My goal with this blog is to keep a weekly record of George and Graces work as well as anything else that takes my fancy. 

P is for Pumpkin

Angry Birds

This week we had a go at one of the themed kindergarten packs from 1plus1plus1equals1
I choose Angry Birds as George loves the game.

George had to read the colour before painting.

Fractions

Different fractions were painted different colours

George had to say which number was behind the angry bird

Greater than and less than, George did better at this than I thought he would

George had to read these sentences and put the correct bird or pig at the end. 

Couting, George hasn't learnt how to write numbers yet so he told me which number was missing and I wrote it for him

Reading

And finally once everything was finished he got to open this new angry bird game I've had hiding away.

George loved this and played it for most of the afternoon with my after school care kids.

J is for Jellybean

Today we completed letter J

Even though it says you can't make the letter J out of the wooden pieces George still had to try and did a good job.

Counting - I only gave George 5 number for him to put in order, he does get a little confused at first but will sort them into order with a little guidance from me
