Day 8

Well I can't stay on to it for too long.  It was after the kids were both in bed for the night by the time I got the camera out.  With so little time and no day light I had to find something quick and easy so straight to the wardrobe I went.  Turns out I don't have many clothes with zip.

I really wanted a photo of the zip on my blue dress I brought to wear to my little sisters wedding but I just couldn't get the focus right with the little light I had so I had to search for anything else.  Lucky I have several jackets I'm borrowing from a friend and one had zips.

Day 7

My tomato plants are starting to fall over from the weight of all the fruit and many were already bright red so i thought i should go out and pick them this morning.  Turned out i had about 3 baskets fill of ripe tomatoes so it was time to do something with them.

After hubby had cleaned the kitchen I headed in and made a huge mess, blanching and peeling tomatoes, peeling and slicing garlic and onions.  Cooking down the sauce and adding a few other ingredients I now have 3 jars of pasta sauce and the house still smells of tomato and garlic many many hours later.

Hands on Play

One of my goals for this year is daily hands on play with the kids.  This is something I do every day with them but I find that I'm not focusing on my time with them and mainly focusing on when I can finish playing with them and go off and do something for myself.  I've also found while hubby has been on holiday from work that I've been very lazy and keep directing the kids to their father.

Last year a blog I found and now read Hands on : as we grow did 30 days to hands on play and every day had a different challenge, each nice and simple and easy to do with your kids but also fun.

I'm going to use some of their ideas as a weekly theme for 52 weeks of hands on play with the kids but will have to get a move on as the first week is pretty much other.

I'll post the full list later but week one is... Pretend Islands

2012 Goals

I know it's common to have resolutions around this time of the year so why not join the band wagon and list some of my goals for 2012.

  • Lose more weight
  • Go to the gym at least 3 times a week
  • Limit take aways to special occasions or once monthly
  • Cook from scratch more
  • Meal plan
  • Start parent child dates with our boy.
  • Daily hands on play with the kids
  • Monthly dates with hubby
I think all of these are achievable, just need to keep them in mind every day so I actually achieve them.

Hands on Play - Week One

Week one - Build a fort

A tent is a fort isn't it??  After receiving a tent for Christmas, it rained and rained most days.  On the 2nd of January the rain stopped but the forecast was for rain the next day so at 2pm I decided we were going camping, and we were on the road by 3pm.

We drove to the nearest DOC (Department of Conservation) camping ground and was soon set up.  The kids LOVED it, George even put on a 'show' for us dancing in the lamp light just after we watched the sun set.

We are going to go camping again this summer and I'm even thinking about going camping over Christmas this year.

Day 6

Feeling rather on to it today, photo taken and posted before lunch.  Today was rubbish day and we have a recycle bin completely full of bottles to go out, even put the overflow into the neighbours bin.

Almost didn't get the photo as today is hubbys birthday and I managed it pick up a Nerf gun for him for just $5 at Kmart as it was missing the darts.  So this morning we headed out to warehouse to get some darts and when you take children to a toy shop there is no leaving quickly.  We had to go up and down all the isles with toys and my boy had to point out everything he wants for his birthday which isn't until the end of July.

Once we finally left we arrived home to find the recycling truck outside, meaning I grabbed my camera and managed to get this one photo before the truck drove off.  The guy working in the truck did seem rather confused as to why I was taking photos.
